I suppose that the concept of something that at first glance is so simple, can convey so much information to the young beginning reader, in such a pleasing fashion is what draws me to these things. The author has taken simple bold drawings; beginning with a strange little bat-like critter peering from behind some clouds and then work through, page by page, until a delightful little friendly black dragon appears.
These pictures show up perfectly on the Kindle. While I have not tested them, I would guess the same holds true for the Nook and other reading devices.

Each page or frame is accompanied by a very simple sentence, the longest being about seven words; the shortest, four. Each sentence is made up primarily of easy site words and do indeed tell a story with each page or sentence skillfully leading into the next. Periods, question marks exclamation points and commas are used giving the child some exposure A very important point, really to this aspect of reading.
Each picture fits the text perfectly. Each line of the text is clear and concise After the story has been read and completed, the author has given included groups of flash cards which include: When you combine these words with the words included in the other two books in this series so far , you have started the young reader with a very nice sight vocabulary.
There are 44 flash cards provided. The concept of placing this work on an e-reader is good. It is extremely inexpensive, the kids love fooling with the electronic gadget they always see clutched in your hand, and the navigation is a snap. You are getting a pretty good bang for your buck with these books. I highly recommend all of them.

Perfect for my Kindergartner! Was just what I was looking for. A perfect book for my Kindergartner. He can read it and then practice the sight word flashcards by himself while I listen. Perfect if you are looking for Kindle books for you beginning reader. One person found this helpful. A bit short, but good, seasonal reading just in time for Halloween. My grandson loves all things connected with wild animals!
This book is formatted wonderfully for the kindle. The text and cute pictures work great! The story is simple but cute. Even the flash cards at the end work well for kids. Wonderful book for early readers learning site words. There was not as much to the story as I expected. I do think that any reading is still good reading. See all 6 reviews.
